Doodle 4 Google Art Contest

Have you ever noticed the Google Doodle? That is where the Google homepage logo has a special design to commemorate a famous person’s birthday or the anniversary of some event. I love their Doodles and they are one of the first things I look for when I log onto my computer in the morning.

Doodle 4 Google Competition

For the past three years, Google has sponsored a Doodle competition, inviting K-12 students to use their artistic abilities to design a special Google Doodle. And this year, 2011, they are finally opening the competition up to ALL students. If your homeschooled child would like to participate, you, the parent, can now register your child in the competition.

For rules and more information, visit the Doodle 4 Google page. Hurry! Registration closes March 2nd and entries must be postmarked by March 16, 2011. The winning doodle will be featured on the Google homepage on May 20, 2011.

Google Doodle History

If you are curious about the history of the Google Doodle itself, check out the Google Doodle History page.

There is even a special section for past doodles, dating back to 1998. The Google Doodles have certainly become more creative over the years!

  • Art contest always enjoyable for children. Thanks google for sponsoring Doodle, I think if some other company can follow google’s way, we may have some good things from our little members.

  • You should really put up the photos of the peoples’ work that didn’t win in 2011-2012!

  • I am a current student that did this contest and I lost.I wish you could put up at least the pics in 2011-2012 contest. I really liked this contest. They don’t let us do this in my grade. I am in the 5th grade and in 6th I know that we don’t do it that grade for sure. I wish we had enough time for this year but it is to late. Only 9 days until this years contest.
